I finally sold the Model 88 and have a new love affair. She may have been old, but she performed. I had a chance to buy a Savage 99 one day while under the influence and boy, did she change my opinion. No mater how much attention I lavished on her, no matter how much money I spent on her, she just wouldn't shoot! The Savage 99, on the other hand, seemed to be a plain jane that did not hold a candle to the beautiful Model 88 she was OK for what God intended her to be, but not good enough to take in public! I fell in love with the Model 88 when it came out in the 1950's - the sleek lines and racy appearance really set my heart on fire, just like a beautiful movie star.
